The death of her sister in 1991 prompted Schofield to write about her childhood experiences of being raised in a tragically abusive environment. She felt compelled to tell the world that her sister’s death was needless and could have been prevented if their lives had not been kept secret to all those around them. Born the seventh child of nine children in Connecticut, she moved to New Hampshire in 1981, with her two-year-old son and a suitcase full of dreams. She worked at the local newspaper and attended college evenings. She currently works as a management information systems specialist. Schofield is involved with assisting domestic violence groups and child abuse prevention agencies. She is a member of the New Hampshire Writers and Publishers Project. |
